The Nia Technique is a holistic fitness and lifestyle program that blends movements from the martial arts, the dance arts and the body rehabilitation therapies such as yoga. Nia's "all gain, no pain" philosophy works with the natural wisdom and intelligence of the body, mind, spirit and emotions. If it feels good, keep doing it. If it hurts, stop.
Nicholas C. Stein
Nicholas Stein has been practicing Nia for nearly 5 years and became a certified Nia instructor in July, 2007 attending the teacher session at the Portland Headquarters where he studied with Debbie and Carlos Rosas, founders of Nia. He currently studies with Meredyth Winter in Encinitas where he has been a guest artist.
He studied and danced Flamenco Dance for over 10 years with the Antonia Rosas Company, and has also studied with Lilia Llorens. He also went to the source, studying and performing in Andalucía Spain. (The Rosas name is coincidental)
He is a certified yoga instructor and currently practices and teaches Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. He studies with Diana Christianson in Dana Point and with Shayna Libbe and Suzy Gill at Yogaworks.
He has studied T’ai Chi, both Yang and Chen style, judo, Chi Gong and Kung Fu.
C. Georgina Sanders
Georgina Sanders has been practicing Nia for over 5 years and became a certified Nia instructor in November, 2006. She has been teaching regularly for 3 years and has developed a following for her lyrical style. She offers classes in Seal Beach and Coronal del Mar.
She is a certified yoga instructor and has extensively studied the yoga sutras and other sacred texts translated and in Sanskrit. She practices and teaches Ashtanga, and has practiced most current forms of yoga and blends them to fit her students’ abilities.
She has danced ballet since she was 6 years old. She studied and danced the Lew Christensen style with the Sacramento Ballet and danced with Lila Zali at Ballet Pacifica. She studied with Anthony Tudor when he was at UCI. She had her own studio in San Clemente.
